Post Over 50% Adults Surveyed Want More Education

Hello, and welcome to the "Going Back to College" forum. Some of you may know me as the "Surfing the Net with Kids" columnist and an advocate for K12 education. This new discussion site is more of the same. But now I am advocating for higher education for grownups!

To start the ball rolling, here are stats recently released by the Degrees of Opportunity study http://www.degreesofopportunity.org

"More than half of all adults want more education, according to the Degrees of Opportunity study. Despite the time management and financial challenges of going back to school, adults believe advanced education is an investment that pays off.

Just over half the respondents indicated they would like to pursue additional education — the equivalent of more than 70 million Americans age 25 to 60. And the time to pursue education, say most adults, is now — if not sooner.

* 57% of those who have gone back to school say they wish they had done it sooner.
* 42% said the timing was about right.
* Less than 1% said they wish they’d waited longer."
