In most cases, yes. You will have to check with an admissios councelor to make sure though. Some classes transfer easier than others. Math classes (algebra, calc 1, calc 2) and basic english classes generally transfer well, also classes that have clearly defined classes that would be available anywhere (philosophy 100, sociology 101, physchology 101). I took a class in high school at a local college called America Culture Studies, and the credits trasferred, but it didn't transfer over as a specific class. I also had classes in history, math, physics, philosophy, english and sociology, and all of them transferred over to the private 4 year school I am graduating from in 2 weeks. Stick to basic classes that would be available anywhere and you should be fine.

Most of the time, yes. But it depends on the school. In some cases, they may accept the hours but not give you credit for specific classes. You may end up re-taking some classes you've already had at the community college. The best way to know for sure is to check with the 4 year college. They'll be able to tell you what they can do and what will transfer.

I'm sure this will be on an individual school basis, as well as which credits will transfer and how many will transfer. I got an associates from a community college and now going to a small catholic college and was able to transfer 64 credits no prob.

Yeah, most of them should be transferable, but you should still check with the private schools though because it varies by school. Also, some schools have a limit on how many credits they will accept.
